Community Activities

A range of groups meet regularly at Amy Robsart Village Hall (ARVH). You are welcome to come along to any of these.

Coffee morning      

Coffee morning takes place every Wednesday from 10.30am until 12 noon. A warm welcome awaits everyone who comes along. For a small charge of £2.00 you can choose tea or coffee plus biscuits. There is also a weekly raffle.

On the 4th Wednesday of each month Pam’s Jams –  delicious homemade cakes/bakes and jams, made by villagers, are on sale to raise funds for St Mary’s Church, Syderstone.


Arts and Crafts

The Arts and Crafts Group meets on Wednesday afternoons between 1.45pm – 4.15pm. 10 sessions per term at £15.00 per term, includes tea, coffee and biscuits.

A wide cross section of arts and crafts are practised, including knitting, crochet, painting, decoupage, felting, embroidery, card making, mindful colouring and sewing. Bring your own pieces to work on.

Indoor Bowls (short mat)

Every Tuesday 4.00pm to 6.00pm.

No experience required – all are most welcome to join us.

A light-hearted afternoon activity.

Refreshments provided. £3 per session with the first session free of charge.

Syderstone Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month 10.30am – 12 noon.

Syderstone Community Archive

The Syderstone Community Archive is housed in the hall and is looked after by Sheila Riches (01485 578524 or  [email protected])

The contents may be viewed either by appointment or at one of the open archive events run by Syderstone Local History Group.

Syderstone Local History Group (SLHG)

Syderstone Local History Group meets at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of each month in the village hall. The group  welcomes anyone with an interest in village history, its buildings, families or customs.

Old Syderstonians

Old Syderstonians Reunions are held twice a year, usually in April and October.

Present or past residents and anyone with an interest in Syderstone are invited to attend.

It gives an opportunity to catch up with old friends over a cup of tea. It is always very informal social event.

Cinema

The village cinema was started in 2006 and is run by a team of volunteers.

The films are shown in the village hall once a month on a Saturday evening. Doors open at 7pm with the screening starting at 7.30 pm.  Current prices are £3.50 per film for season ticket holders and £4.00 for tickets purchased at the door.

There is also a raffle, and ice creams and soft drinks are available for purchase.

The programme of films for each season is advertised on social media, by email, in local newsletters and on posters displayed in the village.

Popup Pub

The pop up pub is now a regular event at the village hall.

There is a licensed bar with a locally brewed real ale, a range of lagers and ciders, plus wine, soft drinks and snacks.

Excellent food such as pizza, fish and chips and BBQ fare is provided by the Green Park Kitchen.

Games are also available for the old and the young!

A great opportunity to meet up with others in Syderstone and further afield.
